Timecode Generator
Posted by Eric Klassen on October 3, 2006 at 1:08 amI mistakenly generated time code on a timeline with hundreds of edits. I want to delete this. I went to one clip, deleted the filter, and tried to paste attributes to the other clips, but the filter’s checkbox could not be selected.
How do I get the timecode off my clips?
Thanks in advance,

October 3, 2006 at 1:12 amselect all of the clips with the timecode filter on them, control click on the clips, select remove attributes and select filters. That should remove ALL of the filters from your clips.

Unfortunately, it removes ALL filter on your clips. There is no way to select only the TC Generator filter. If this isn’t a problem then great.

October 3, 2006 at 10:58 amThere’s always the choice of going to the Autosave Vault folder and finding a version of the timeline BEFORE the TC filter was applied to all of the clips.
It all depends on how much work has been done after the TC filter was applied as to whether this is a good option.

October 3, 2006 at 4:08 pmWould it be possible to close fcp, find and move the timecode generator filter out of the plugins folder, restart fcp and reopen the project … and what would that do?

I gave this option to someone for a different unwanted filter and it worked with no harm done. Just remember to put it back when you are done with this project.

October 6, 2006 at 10:11 pmI’m not familiar with the Timecode filter, but is there a way to open up one of your clips with the filter applied and then reduce the opacity of the Timecode itself all the way to zero or Reposition the timecode all the way off of the screen? Or anything like this that would keep the Filter applied to the clip but make it un-viewable?
Then, just paste attributes the Filters to all of the other clips?
This would keep the filter on each of the clips but, in effect, make it invisible.
