This is just plain old BorisFX (version 8). I did post this in the Boris forum last week and got no response. Not as much activity over there as in here.

[sformby] “How was yours “not compatible” – what behavior did it have?”

Everything worked fine except Media100i, go figure. It was the 1.7ghz Sonnet, which they don’t seem to be carrying anymore. Maybe there was more problems with that model. All my other programs functioned normally with it though (AE, Illustrator, Photoshop, Commotion, Protools, Lightwave). I had it for about a month, trying to get to the root of the problem and Clubmac still gave me a full refund.

    [sformby] “G4 533 that has a G4 1.1 ghz processor upgrade installed.”

What CPU upgrade do you have? I tried a Sonnet upgrade some time ago and it wasn’t compatible with M100.

[the_harryjf] “When you import the images, selected Premultiply Alpha, not Straight. Set the background color to black.”

Thats what I’m doing and I still get the black outline.

  • Are you importing as a composition or footage?

Do you have Media100i installed on the G5? What type of drives are you using for your media?

If you have an expansion chasis on the G5 (for your m100 board) just open the project on the G5. Or you could install SW on the G5 and open it with that. No EDLs are necessary. If you use SW though, make sure you make a copy of the project and files because you won’t be able to open it in M100i once you open it with SW.

[Greg] “Should I be getting machine control? Also, this may sound like a stupid question, but does audio travel on the same firewire?”

Everything goes through the firewire, (video, audio and machine control). Although, the machine control is much more responsive if you connect via the RS-422. Does the DSR-20 have RS-422? Be sure to set the proper inputs and machine control in the settings window.

Thanks Kristian. I guess I’ll just have to suck it up and get a G5.
