This is very reassuring. I got this e-mail this morning and am glad to see they’ve not abandoned us M100i users. Does this mean I can move programs and bins back and forth between M100i and SW now?

[Marc] “I ended up dumping the VHS to Betacam SP an digitizing from that.”

I’ve never had this problem with digitizing but, I always transfer any footage I get (vhs, DVD, etc.) to Beta just so I can archive it and redigitize or reload the project later.

I think the error is a memory issue. You could send me the program files and I’ll send you the EDLs. It only takes a couple of minutes.

[Steve Wargo] “Why in the world would you shoot an indie feature on BetaSP?”
Thats what I own. I have a small production company and I shoot and edit BetaSP everyday. Making it look like film is not that big of a deal, I’ve been doing it for quite awhile. I’m going to take my camera to the rental house and do some tests with the Pro35. I might even rent it and a couple of lenses for the weekend and do some tests in the field.

Thanks for the info, Chris. I’m shooting BetaSP with a Pro35 adapter so, I’ll spend the extra to get a set of primes. There’s going to be alot of compositing in this project so, I’ll need the best image I can get.

January 25, 2006 at 7:17 pm in reply to: ATTO UL4D with Media 100i ver. 8.2.2

    From ATTO’s website…
“Backward compatible with PCI-based systems, preserving investment in legacy systems
133 MHz PCI-X provides up to 1 GB/second data transfers, allowing full Ultra320 performance
Fully backward compatible with 66 MHz and 33 MHz PCI specifications.
Fully compatible with 64-bit and 32-bit PCI busses”

If you have a UL3D why do you need a UL4D? Using Media100i, the UL3D is more than sufficient.

For each program use a seperate project (assuming you don’t need the same footage). After you’re finished editing, copy the media file from your SCSI to firewire. Then you can delete the media file from your SCSI and start the next project/program, then repeat the process for the third. Make sure you save your Project, Program & Bin files to your internal hard drive. When you want to reload a project, just copy the coresponding media file back to your SCSI and open it in M100.
