Ideally you’d want to partition your drive & install the different OSs to each partition, or install a second drive to boot from or install OSX to a firewire drive and boot from that. That being said, I have a G4 450 with OS9.2.2 & OSX.3.3 installed on the same drive with no partitions and I switch between the two all the time with no problems. I run Media100 in OS9 and use the G4 in OSX as a node for my renderfarm. As Kieran stated you have to re-boot to switch the OS but OSX only takes a fraction of the time to boot as OS9.

[jimmy mac] “I am using M100 8.2 on a G5 with OS 10.3.9 and would like to add some movement to photo montages.”

Its crude but, you can drop the photos on the graphics tracks and add custom motion keyframes (scale, crop, opacity and position) to them with M100.

Export from Media100 as a reference. Load the reference file into Cleaner and then encode to h264. If you try to export from Media100 as h264 you’re basically telling Media100 to encode it, which it doesn’t do, hence the error.

December 29, 2005 at 12:46 pm in reply to: Digitised M100HD media import into M100i

[Blue Peter] “I forgot to say it opened on the m100i system in quicktime player and played out to the video monitor ok, was only black once in m100 itself.”

It will play in quicktime because you have the Media100 codec but, any files created or imported into HD or SW cannot go into M100i without exporting them first. This quote is from the M100 website…
“Media 100 sw will be able to open any program created on Media 100i and continue editing. Your Media 100i system will not be able to play a program created on Media 100 sw, but the QuickTime media exported from Media 100 sw will be able to be imported and played out to tape on Media 100i.”
    The same applies to HD.

[john sharaf] “To get a “telecine-like” effect you must play the tape out through a capable Sony VTR such as the HDW500 or J3H.”

On the Sony website it says the JH-3 has an internal 3:2 pulldown engine. Does this mean if you shoot at say 24p you can capture at 29.97? If so, are there any issues with syncing audio?

I believe you have to export from HD using the M100i codec before importing into M100i.

[topher944] “I seemed to remember I had to open the overlay in after effects first. (settings to millions of colors +)then import to media 100”

You can set to millions of colors+ in the Juicer renderer under settings, just as you ould in AE.
