Hey,
Just wanted to throw in my two cents:
1 – Make sure C4D is set to “Multi-Layer File” in the Multi-Pass settings in your render settings
2 – If using After Effects, remember that AE does not support multi-layer EXR files natively. I believe that there is a free plugin online that will do this for you, and I think that Stu Maschewitz wrote something about it somewhere… try checking this out: https://www.fnordware.com/OpenEXR/

One more thing: do you know if there is a direct relationship between that number and an increase/decrease in resolution? For instance, if I doubled the default 36 to 72, and then double the output resolution of my render, will I render the same scale, etc. of a render done at 36?
I think it does, but just wanted to make sure.

I suppose, however, I do not anticipate all of my projects being RAM-intensive. Should I then just “ride” the multiprocessing values in order to optimize them per scene? For instance, if my AE comp only takes up 1GB of RAM, should I enable all cores?

My guess would be that it is wholly dependent on the output path in C4D that is defined in your Save settings. You can “change” this after-the-fact by opening your project in After Effects and simply replacing your footage files with the proper images from the proper directories. Then, simply save your .aep project. This isn’t necessarily a method that will let you edit the .aec file, but it should suffice for what you need.

Hi Dave,
I suppose the only problem may be related to multiprocessing, however, I am using the standard settings. Again, I doubt that other programs would hurt me, as I only tend to have Firefox open simultaneously.
Anyone else have any insights?
