I think I have this solved . Opened clip in its own time line and the channel eq plug in worked. I went back to the project with the clip and expanded audio components , once I did that the channel eq plugin worked as expected . I think the issue relates back the original zoom. Recording and how that was processed – something out of my control . In any case all good, mystery solved .

There is some overhead, one does need to update drives otherwise the catalog won’t be current, however, if you have a stack of drives ( who doesn’t?) and need to search for some files and don’t want to go through the process of plugging them in one or two at a time so you can finder search, Neofinder is the Sh*t.
FCP library manager is also a huge help with FCP libraries.

I’ve been using Simon Says for transcriptions and subtitles. I’ve been happy with the results and the pricing and as an added feature their new assemble from transcripts feature is a very useful feature.

The existing text templates in X are all done in motion. I find that frequently there is a parameter of the template that I want to control but can’t with the default template. You can open a copy in motion and publish the desired parameters of the template being modified and save changes. That copy shows up in FCP text browser with the additional template controls published ie. controls appear in the inspector and then you can modify them as needed for your project.

You can always open a copy of a native FCPX text package in motion , make some modifications and save it. That Copy will then show up in you browser with the modifications you made. I barely know Motion but have been modifying and making my own text packages to fill certain needs I have and even for a motion noob its possible.

On Big Sur with an M1 Mac mini. I have a few rarely used plugins that are broken which was totally expected . X is very fluid so far on the mini /Big Sur . I’m not working on anything super complex. I am amazed at how quickly the current project opens . It’s not a large project by any means but it opens instantaneously which still surprises me .

Frame io does offer some excellent features. My issue is that getting clients to buy in and learn the process has been a very mixed bag. Mostly people want ta vimeo link and that’s it. OTOH I did find a A short ripple video tutorial about revising with time code notes by replacing changed sections with gap clips, then using the time line index to identify and remove all gap clips once finished. This keeps the time code consistent with the notes while editing .

Ah yes this does make sense now.

If the notes are basically cuts from existing edit, step one is replace parts to be deleted with gap clips, going through the list and step 2 is get rid of gaps to collapse the timeline to its new form which makes sense in terms of keeping the original timecode notes in sync with the edit as you work start to finish.
Its been so long since I worked in a track based NLE I’m having. A hard time imagining the same edit scenario in lets say FCP 7 which was my last track based edit experience. In FCP 7 sections would be deleted, the time line would not be magnetic and so retain its original timing as sections were deleted , but then after making the cuts I’d have to go back and close all the gaps where sections were deleted?

I don’t quite follow the “make changes above secondary story line” can you explain?
