ODD audio Problem

Doing some audio optimization of a project and while I can apply a channel eq filter to clips in a particular project- they are all greyed out, so I can’t activate or manipulate the settings. Other projects in this same library act as expected when applying audio plug ins. Honestly I don’t even know where to begin. Audio for this trouble clip is from a zoom recording . I have another project that is a zoom recording and no issues there applying plug ins. Any thoughts on why I can’t applied plug in won’t activate in. this project?
I think I have this solved . Opened clip in its own time line and the channel eq plug in worked. I went back to the project with the clip and expanded audio components , once I did that the channel eq plugin worked as expected . I think the issue relates back the original zoom. Recording and how that was processed – something out of my control . In any case all good, mystery solved .
