Yes, we have experienced this same problem.
Until there’s a fix, here’s a suggested workaround.
BEFORE you media manage your sequence, match frame every “multiclip” shot back to the original media and “overcut” it into your sequence. Save and manage this “multiclip less” sequence normally. This should work as expected.
Ver 6.01 really stuck a wrench in the “media manager/multiclip” workflow.

You gotta dig deeper than that.
What’s going on when the “slowness” occurs? Is someone doing an output? A distributed render? We recently had a similar “slowdown” and then realized that an assistant editor was doing a “distributed rendering” pass which brought everyone to their knees.
I’m assuming that you’re working in workgroup on a X-SAN or similar type of SAN.
Chances are, if everything use to work just fine, something else is contributing to your problem… not corrupt media.

Dear “ding”,
In FCP’s EDL maker, there’s a choice of “sort modes”: Master sort or source sort.
“Master sort” is the default and it’s known as “A Mode”. “B mode” would be source sort. There’s also a “C and D” mode, but I don’t believe that FCP supports it.
Do a google search on “EDL’s” and you’ll find a wealth of info. Wikipedia also has good write up. Know that any EDL will only handle one video track at a time and a max of four audio trks.
Any kind of effect beyond a simple dissolve is unlikely to translate to your destination on-line system, and may cause the EDL maker to just not work. EDL’s are soooooo old school.You best bet would be to just finish in FCP.

Give it up! You’re trying to cram a five pound load in a four pound bag. Not only are there bandwidth issues, but there’s sharing/ permisions/ access issues as well. A networked workflow (which is what you’re asking for) requires a few basic parts to function. You don’t have them.
For a professional SAN, look up Facilis’ “Terrablock”. There’s also a solution called “Metasan”, and of course Apple’s X-SAN. None of this stuff is cheap. Don’t expect a miracle soluion to your situation.

Media Manager does NOT handle freeze frames very well. It does NOT handle speed ramps very well. These two functions are known for cause innumerable headaches for editors.
If you had asked me BEFORE you media managed this kind of sequence with “many” still frames, I would have said, “Don’t do it”.

Do a google search for “Virtual Katy”.
This was developed by the folks who did Lord of the Rings. They had an assistant named “Katy” who use to have to do exactly what your talking about. She too got tired of making the changes, so they created a “Virtual” Katy to do it automatically.

What’s the “system frequency” setting on your JH3?
(Item # 013 in the set up menu?
That needs to be set to “ON” in order to enable the deck to adjust to your desired setting. Then, you need to change it and do a RESTART on the deck.

Glad you’re OK.
Your experience really has NOTHING to do with “the business”. You could substitue “home contstruction contractor” for video editing and the story would be the same.
This man clearly either has a chemical problem or is just mentally unstable. The second he touched you, he crossed the line. I can’t believe you even took his call.Run, don’t walk from this guy. There’s nothing good that can come of continued contact. Whatever money is at stake is NOT worth your life.
Make a police report. I don’t care what they told you. You have a witness to this action. That’s all you need.
Stay away from him.

This could be your problem.
It’s quite possible that there ISN’T 3 terrabytes available. If you have multiple affinities in your volume, that “space available” indicator will report on the ENTIRE volume, not just the affinity where you’re trying to save. You can only get a TRUE space availble at the admin level by mounting the MDC (meta data controller) on the SAN and then checking the individual affinity.
So, you can try saving til next tuesday, but it’s gonna keep crapping out ’cause there just isn’t any space available… even though it says there is.
On a shared system, someone has to pay attention to media management.

Yes, grey area.
The key here, as you’ve quoted above, it the nature of the project (for profit or educational).
I think most words of caution from people here are about commercial projects destined for broadcast or “industrials” done by “deep pocket” corporations. In that case, I’d err on the side of caution and clear any and all music.
