Not going to happen without FCP 6.04…
The 6.04 version gave full compatibility to XDCAM EX and this is exactly what you’ll need to edit smoothly. I’m sure someone will tell you a work around for now… but that is only going to cause you headaches.
Keep this in mind when working with new camera gear… ALWAYS run the latest version of FCP.

This is where your options are limitless… You can import the data, no problem but you do have to conform back to disk OR you can export to disc as data, not via HD-SDI.
We like direct capture into DVCProHD or ProRes422. Either one looks great. For small projects, its best to stay XDCAM HD for us.
Something to think about… If you import your footage and find out that this is a real pain, you can take those clips and re-capture them into ANY codec you wish. Timecode is timecode.

One more thing to try, Mike…
Trash your preferences, and try again. If it’s still happening, it maybe be a piece of corrupt media – maybe something that was imported or it could be a render file.
You can clear out the render files using Render Manager and then re-rendering your program.
But from what I gather from the posts, it sounds like a piece of corrupt media that was imported using Sony Software Transfer plugin. Its happened to me before.

You’ll need something like Matrox MXO to do this. If you have an AJA IO HD, then its no problem at all with this device.

WOW… That would be a nice feature to have.
Something I’d like to see is Optical Flow added to the Speed settings, along with adjustment parameters for Optical Flow.

How about older MacBook Pro laptops?
What do you do in that case? We have an independent contracted editor with a first generation MacBook Pro with a 120 gig hard drive. As you know… that’s not much by today’s standards.
What would you suggest in this case?

I know this may sound funny BUT… Take out 1 gig of your memory. FCP can ONLY run efficiently using 2 gig, 4 gig, 8 gig, or 16 gig. Apple has a tech doc on this and it is a fact. Trust me on this. I know that Apple put in the 5 gig… but someone at Apple was mistaken on this.

The doc doesn’t specifically state about the multiple of 4 gig sizes… but its a true fact that odd sizes like 3, 5, 6, or 7 will cause FCP to act really strange for most people.

Let me say that Andy’s advise id the best you can use.
Sure the Blackmagic is a great option, too. BUT…. Let’s just say that their tech support has been less than stellar. It’s your choice.
