  • Try running Font Book. Can it see the font? Use the search box in the top right of the font book window to search for “Copperplate”.

The middle column of the window should show the Copperplate font family with Light, Regular and Bold listed underneath it. If you don’t see that there is something wrong with the way the font is installed.

Is the word “off” listed to the right of the font name and the weights? If so, the font was disabled somehow. Single-click on Copperplate to select it then click the empty square above it (to the right of the “+” sign) to activate it.

On my system the show font info window shows the font location as /Library/Fonts/Copperplate.ttc

Since the computer thinks your program may be damaged or incomplete you should probably start by using a disc utility like TechTool or run fsck in single user mode to check your disc integrity. If it finds a problem that may fix it. If your disc checks out okay but they still don’t work try re-downloading the programs.
Google ‘fsck mac’ to see how to run it. It has fixed a few problems TechTool couldn’t.

I think the CMD-Up arrow command is new to FCPX 10.3 and it won’t work in 10.2.3.

On a mac you would right-click on the timecode display in the timeline window. You should be shown all of the different options for timecode format.

June 7, 2016 at 7:31 pm in reply to: Adobe apps will not launch on one system

I had a similar problem about a year ago. Trashing preferences as well as uninstall and reinstall didn’t help. In my case I had to run the file system check utility from the Mac terminal ( sbin/fsck -fy ) to get it running again. Now it’s the first thing I try after trashing preferences. Maybe it’s just a coincidence, but I seem to start having problems right about the time Creative Suite needs to ‘phone home’ to verify the license. (I have to log-in again, CC thinks that I’m running programs for the first time, forgetting preferences etc.)
CC is a great suite of programs – when it runs. It sure is a temperamental beast though.

October 7, 2015 at 9:11 pm in reply to: Add Marker to Timeline not Clip

I’m sorry. You’re right Bret. I jump back and forth between FCPX and Premiere I sometimes get them messed-up. (One more reason to confirm stuff before posting…)

I suppose one thing you could try is to add an empty title to the entire length of your timeline and then add markers to that.

    Sorry for any confusion

If you have a clip selected while adding a marker, the marker is added to the clip. If you don’t have a clip selected the marker is added to the timeline at the playhead position.

September 26, 2015 at 4:35 pm in reply to: Multicam editing without having cuts on camera audio

Press one of these hotkey combinations to set the edit mode you want

Shift/Option-1: Cut&Switch Mulitcam Audio and Video
    Shift/Option-2: Cut&Switch Multicam Video Only
    Shift/Option-3: Cut&Switch Multicam Audio Only

Then press the number key of the track you want to switch to.

The edit mode will remain selected until you change it again. You don’t need to select it before every edit.
