OK great, that makes sense, thank you.
I got hung up on the meaning of the word “generational”.

Good response, thanks John. I just wasn’t 100% on that.

Thanks, I should have been clearer. I noticed the out of sync behavior on my locally installed mp4. I had rendered it to Vimeo’s recommended settings and caught the sync issue before it was uploaded it to Vimeo.
My point is that a lot of folks may be blaming Sony Vegas for sync issues when the issue is their media player. It’s usually the basics that trip most people up.

December 29, 2012 at 2:57 pm in reply to: ‘Build Dynamic RAM Preview’ problem in Sony Vegas Pro 10I’m having issues as well. Ram Preview never works right in Pro 11 (build 701)64bit on my Win7 64-bit machine.
I use cineform AVI files since otherwise I’d be mixing MOVs with m2T files from two different cams.
As soon as I add NeatVideo and adjust the color levels, I can no longer edit due to the lagginess. I’m using preview (full).
When I do a ram preview, it just plays a few seconds. Dynamic Ram is at 200 MB.
And to think I was going to let my spouse handle the editing part of the business. It looks like even in the year 2013, it’s almost as if one needs to be an IT Pro to edit in HD.

November 29, 2012 at 6:33 pm in reply to: Cutting excess footage from master MOVs created from Canon DSLRsThanks for replying. I wouldn’t have thought it would be such a technical challenge for engineers to accomplish. I don’t need precise cutting down to the individual frame level.

Yes, I’m pretty sure this was done on a Mac, but I’m hoping to get more information shortly.

We had some 16mm film digitized. We were provided DNxHD files with the mxf extension.
I downloaded the latest Avid LE Codec, but Vegas Pro 11 will not import the files.
Is there a workaround?

February 25, 2012 at 1:27 pm in reply to: Receiving error: “An error occurred when creating the media file xxxxx.mp4. The reason for the error could not be determined.”I recently reinstalled Win7 and get a similar message. It comes up almost instantly when I try to render an mp4. If I chose a wmv file I have no problem.
The only difference in my install this time that comes to mind is that I installed a media codec package that was offered with my latest video card drivers.
Does anyone have any ideas on the cause of the error?

Just did an interesting experiment. I rendered out one particular clip as 23.976 (IVTC Film) again and the footage was not smooth.
Then, I changed the setting to 24 (Film) and it was smooth.

It’s my understanding that the t2i uses its own version of AVC/H.264
