How do I implement Avid DNxHD codec?
Posted by Angelo Mike on March 27, 2012 at 11:53 pmI downloaded it so I can render a video that will be used on Final Cut to Pro Res. I tried downloading the Avid Codec from this page.
https://avid.custkb.com/avid/app/selfservice/search.jsp?DocId=423319
But the Avid folder in Program Files (x86) is empty. I looked in the Sony folders where all the plugins are, and it isn’t there. So how do I direct Vegas to recognize it as a render profile?

March 28, 2012 at 12:21 amIf you unzipped it and installed it..You should be able to output an
avid DNXHD .mov quicktime when you go to render output in vegas. -

March 28, 2012 at 12:31 amThis is a known installation bug in Avid Codecs LE package. Close Vegas. Go to \Program Files (x86)\QuickTime. The Avid setup has created a folder there named something like “QT.Resources”. Inside, you’ll see a bunch of files called AvidXXXXCodec.qtx. You’ll need to move them all to \Program Files (x86)\QuickTime\QT.System folder. After that, your DNxHD codec will appear in Vegas in “Render as -> Quicktime -> Video format” option.

March 28, 2012 at 1:13 amUgh. Will I be able to render the Avid DNxHD video to 720×486 interlaced?

March 28, 2012 at 4:27 amThe DNXHD codec is for HD. You should be able to us Avid Meridian compressed or uncompressed for SD.

April 2, 2012 at 11:40 amWe had some 16mm film digitized. We were provided DNxHD files with the mxf extension.
I downloaded the latest Avid LE Codec, but Vegas Pro 11 will not import the files.
Is there a workaround?

April 2, 2012 at 12:49 pmyou may want to download a free program such as Mediainfo and drop the .mxf file in it to confirm the use of the avid codec. It may be DVCPROHD,which would require a codec from Raylight. Did he create this file on a mac? I have had some problems importing .mxf files created on a mac.
