This would be good for a TV output…for a web based output you should render out without fields, but you should always correctly interpolate imported footage.
Mark.
PS…lower field is good for NTSC SD

Gary,
After thinking about this for a while, I was coming back to post the same answer as you….i guess you beat me to it 🙂
And yes, you can increase the size of the spot by increasing cone size in the light settings dialog, and/or pull the light back in Z-space.

I use the official Avid keyboard from Sejin at work and love it. I found one on ebay for at home, but after 2 weeks my son dropped a drink on it, and well i am back to the piece of *!@* Microsoft keyboard that I had before the Avid keyboard.

First, you could right click on the Fog layer in the project window, then choose Interpret Footage, then in that dialog, let After Effects know how many times you would like to loop the layer…Next, in the comp window drag the right handle (the layer’s out) as far as you need.
If you want seperate layers, then duplicate the layer as many times as you need, then highlight all of the layers, tight click and choose animation assistant-sequence layers.
The last option is by using the nudge function. Pick a layer, then use alt and page up/down to nudge the layer in time one frame at a time. Add the shift key for 10 frames at a time.

Just a thought, but how about creating a new shape layer and using the pen tool to do this to create your custom maks…Now, set this as a track matte for your first layer. Next, move the anchor point on the shape layer to the point where you want the grow to move from…..now simply scale the shape layer.
I am not in front of AE at the moment, but I am assuming this should work….Also, I believe that shape layer are vectorial, so you should be able to avoid blurred masks. Again, just a thought, but it should work. I love using track mattes…I find for a lot of work that they are more practical than layer masks….lets say the client wants you to grow the original image inside the mask….can be tedious resizing, but not when using track mattes. Also, to move both elements they can easily be parented to a null object.

It is the spatial interpolation that is not set correctly, or there are keyframes on the point of interest and you are not looking at them in your timeline.

Create the fractal noise effect to the speed that you want….even if it is like 6 seconds or 10, no big deal.
Now precomp that layer and move all into new comp.
Duplicate the precomp and precomp these two layer. Now step into this precomp. Trim one second off the head of layer one, now slide layer two so that frame 29 of this layer lines up with the 3 second mark. Now, add an opactity keyframe to layer one at the 2:01 mark and set opacity to 100. Next, set the opacity to 0 at the 2:21 mark.
Now, hit home and the B key, next go to the 3 second mark and hit the n key….Now right click on the timespace marker at the top of the timeline and select trim comp to work area.
Now go back to your original comp…frame one of the final precomped fractal should look the same as frame 90 (3 secondes)…if it doesn’t, then simply slide the bottom layer around a frame at a time to line it up, but it should work right away.
Hope this helps

Avid liquid will bring in VOB files…they will not show up in the import dialog box, but dragging them to the rack (bin) will bring them in. They can then be edited and brought back to DVD without re-encoding. Only certain audio types will work for this…. Some users have had issues.
As stated by others, it is not my preferred way of working (with encoded DVD material), but it gets the job done without reencoding, which is pretty cool. The timeline does need to be set to match the VOB files, so if you are working with other media, it will need to be rendered by the software (background rendering) before it will go to DVD.
Liquid is a pretty cool application that is somewhat of a workhorse, in that it offers tons of tools for the money….that said, i edit on Avid (Symphony and MC) and much prefer editing on those applications.
I plan on upgrading my CS2 suite to CS4. I use AE a lot, and can see me using PP and the Dynamic Link for more layered products. I also love to go to DVD using Adobe Encore. I am very excited about CS4.
Best regards
