  • You could also make a copy of the bike, add the fill filter and set to black, add gaussian blur, change to 3d layer and position as needed….

One word, INTEGRATION. If you buy the apps seperatly then you won’t get the dynamic link…. Dynamic link allows you to take clips from one app to the other without rendering, for me, that feature alone was worth the upgrade.

Top layer should be text (visibility off). Layer two should be your text footage and should use text alpha as track matte. TRack 3 should be background footage.

Drop the white levels. Add the levels filter and drop the white down to like 235….this should get better results. Pure white is often extremely hard for televisions to display…my JVC buzzes with pure white (not an old tv).

    Good Luck

The only time that I ever saw this was with a precomp that had the wrong dimensions….probably not your problem, but figured I would post it 🙂
The error didn’t show up in ram previews, but I did see it once I had brought the QT back into my editing app.

    Good luck

If they are to go on a PC, then they should go into the system32 folder of your C drive…on mac I have no clue, as I am not a Mac guy 🙂

Have you checked that that particular version of fx is supported under your version of OS and media100 ???? I see that fx 8 is out……

I am pretty sure that your version of fx is too old. Check with Borisfx.

August 31, 2006 at 10:35 pm in reply to: Banding on colour gradients

It is a bit depth problem…. I’m no mathmetician but will try to explain.

8 bit is a mathematical calculation of the amount of variations that can happen when 1 and 0s are changed in a 8 number (bit). The result for 8 bit gives 255. Three channels of 255, RGB. Multiple these three channels together (255 x 255 x 255) and this gives you the possible amounts of colours
(16 581 375)…This ring a bell ??? ever heard of 16 million colours (add the alpha and you are at 16 million +).

Now ten bit is a number that is ten digits long of ones are zeros. Of course the amount of possibilities is greater….it is greater still with 16 bit (trillions of colours).

When you see banding, what you are in fact seeing is the computer trying to draw the resulting value, but unfortunately the values it is trying to draw fall outside of the millions of colours, so instead of being able to draw nice and smooth, the computer has to put the nearest available colour….this results in two or more colours having the same value giving the appearance of banding.

Now, what can you do to get around this ??? Try to work in the highest possible color depth possible. Try to have less variants in your gradients….try to blur out the banding…..pretend you don’t see it until your boss does.

    Hope this helps

It does give a cleaner look, but if the look you want is the one on the sports channel, then it is too clean.

August 31, 2006 at 3:15 pm in reply to: camera expressions

Since I am not very good at expressions, I will tell you how I do this.

Leave the point of interest pointed at the object. Now create two keyframes, a begginning and ending for the poistion of the camera. Next, change to top view, control click the keyframes in the comp window….this will change them to auto bezier keyframes, now adjust the bezier handles to create the arc that you desire. The camera will keep looking at your object, so naturally as it moves, the head of the camera will move to look at your object.

    Hope this helps
