Add a little blur and play with transfer modes. You can also create a texture using fractal noise in a precomp, and then layer that over the text and use the text as a track matte to confine the noise map. It really depends on the look that you are trying to acheive.

It sounds to me like your alpha is not right…bring the clip into After Effects, if you have it, and check out the alpha….my bet is that the alpha is a full screen….when you are reversing it, it is normal that everything dissapears.

I agree with Roland’s explanation….however, if you do not want to delete keyframes, then you should select the keyframes, right click on one of them and then go to keyframe interpolation. Now change the spatial interpolation to linear…it is probably set to bezier, which means that it creates a curve by looking at your 3 keyframes and interpolating.

As Roland suggested, try to pick up some reading or a DVD to better understand these concepts.

Yes, you need to reverse the expression by adding something like *-1 to the rotation of those that you wish to rotate negatively…I am not sure if that is the exact language to be used, but from memory I think it is.

In the import settings you have to make sure that you set the alpha to invert alpha….Avid works differently than other systems, in that white is tranparent and black is opaque….other systems use the white for opaque and black for transparency.

October 28, 2008 at 4:10 pm in reply to: Masked Colour Correction

You could duplicate the track, then apply color correction to correct to the right colors, then add the annimatte filter and keyframe masks….this would allow the color correction to only be applied inside the masked area…I have done this on my Symphony to color correct someone’s teeth….It came out beautifully.

you could also try the BCC filter, “Correct selected” and see if that would allow to correct just the area you need.

October 28, 2008 at 11:09 am in reply to: Making supers for Avid

Just to add to Dave’s post, for Avid it is better to render the alpha out straight, not premultiplied, as Avid does not handle premultiplied alphas well….So render out RGB+alpha but straight, not premultiplied.

Also, the latest release of Avid codecs support alphas (including the DNXHD codecs), so you could render out a QT to one of these codecs (if your super is animated)…
