    text tool CRASH AE7

    Put a fresh install of AE7 on a new HPwx8400 running xp.
    Everything runs great, untill i choose text tool, as soon as i click on the comp screen AE locks up. nothing works no typing nothing.
    Any clues?

    Maybe a corrupted font ???

    Do you have Photoshop ??? If so, can you create text with it ???

    make sure your ae has the latest update for for ae7 (i think there was only one update.. 7.1 or 7.0.1).

    also, go to preferences>previews and make sure opengl is disabled and set the acceleration to use adaptive resolution. it’s possible that with opengl enabled that ae was firing up the opengl render engine to get ready to anti-alias the text and that caused the crash…
