    Hi.

Are you sure you get mono down mix?
Maybe you have just one stereo track as is usually is ?
and both channels have theyr own content ?

I use pc now and premiere and there you capture and get just one trac but both channels are separate.
You can look your audio in Soundtrac and see and hear if the channels are separate but in one file. There you could eazyly (if not in FCP already) mute one channel and save it as one trac and make annother version with second channel and voila you have separate tracks. It should be possible to do it in FCP also …. it is possible to do so in Premiere.

    Hope it helps.

    Hi.

I would go with new FCP and ProRez codeq.
It gives you really big advantage in disk space.

February 24, 2007 at 10:19 am in reply to: What is the right speed for sata raid?

    Hi.

What would i do is i would back up my raid drives content.
Reformat drives and rebuild it in RAID BIOS not in motherboard.
    There is a difference.
If raid is missing from its bios then it yes might be broken.

What i also wanted to point out that there is 2 generations of 9000 series 3Ware raids.
I also have older wersion and it might be that they do not go as fast as the newer ones.
If you work with SD then there is no point to race about speed …. you got plenty.

I also sugsest if you need more speed go with CalDigit.
    I will 🙂
    They have impressive raids.

    Hi.

Maybe the 400 gig drives are not so fast at all ?

There might be problems when you do not configure from 3Ware web based UI or bios UI and use
windows disk manager to do it.
I have 3Ware SATA 9000 series and i’m pretty happy with it on SD jobs.

I have 4 SATA seagates at 320 gigs and with 16 mb chache.
    I get 64,2 read and 98,3 write.

Also 3 gigs of ram might affect it maybe?
