Yep, you are right. But ext keyboard does defeat the object of having a portable. Besides, my edit desk at the moment is strewn with USB hard drives and broken bits of computers.
It is amazing how dificult it is to transfer from a working PC to a backup system.Regards

On Sony VAIO, the legends are in Blue. It is in the manual, I did read it, BUT I did not understand it.Thanks again.

You can also have NO tape in the camera.
Edward, this does not work for me since I went from V5 to V6. Now the SW insists on a tape in my DSR20 VCR before it will start the PTT process.
I do not see the logic of this because
1- I can put a tape with record tab on
2- I can take the tape out once PTT process is kicked off.O D D.

Thanks guys for all the help.
I never (never) appreciated that one could have FW and USB in the same box. I was also surprised to learn that USB2 is faster than FW.I am going to hide in a corner and read up on external HDD interfaces. I am ashamed to say that I never fully understood USB interface. Okay back to Google.
