I started many years ago, on a FAST Video Machine
Incredible. Same here. I started on Fast VM, back in 1992 and moved to vegas with V4.
Sadly, I scrapped Fast VM last month. It was also a wonderful and innovative software.Regards

Thanks for all your advice chaps. The green screen is produced by green LED ring mounted on the lens. We were seduced by the claim that no special lighting was necessary.
Re reading the instructions, at least 2 things are important.
as you have said, back lighting and
reasonable gap between the talent and the screen. The screen is made of beaded material and lights up very well withe lens mounted LED ring.
I was just looking for a way to inspire confidence. I think the best way, as has been suggested, is to capture a small section and see if it keys satisfactorily.

Thanks Gary and Mike. I sort of guessed that I would have to capture a sample and see how it keys.
BTW, the costs you so kindly mentioned translate to as many GB pounds, making all those ‘not so obscure’ sw nearly twice the price for us, Brits.
Do either of you shoot green screen on location?

Thanks Mike. Just as I thought.
I was just hoping that someone may have a gem to offer, like a piece of obscure SW that may do the job in realtime!.Dream on – as they say.

Here’s a reply I posted loooong time ago
Vegas does not like certain DVCAM cameras. If an external mic is used in one or both channels, then Vegas captures the audio stream from that tape as left (mono) only. It does not matter what player is used for capture. The 2 cameras mentioned in this post are Sony PDX10 and DSR200.

https://forums.creativecow.net/readpost/24/478326?&archive=TAs Edward says, easiest solution is use scenalyzer live.
I have used that marvelous programme for last 3 years and no probs.
Hope that helps.

Since my main edit PC died , back in September, I have been using Sony VAIO-AR11B.
I was more than impressed with its performance for editing. Two of the many things that made me forget I was editing on a laptop were, 17 inch wide screen and second monitor support.Hope this helps.

Thanks Allen. That’s exactly what I want to do. For some obscure reason when I tried that last time, the disc space count doubled and I could not find out where the previous file was lurking. So I went back to DVD Workshop. Anything for an easy life.
My main edit PC died and I am on my new, shiny and fast laptop. Resolved to use DVDA. Looks as though deleting the file cleard the bit count. Doing my next authoring in a day or two. Hopefully all should be well.

Thanks Gary, I shall look in to that. At the moment, I need to get some projects out of the way and then aquire another PC. 3 key strokes I use most from NUM-Pad are, move event up/down and cross fade. I have those on Shuttle pro now.
