Yes to that observation. I did get the Davinci Mini (rather big for “mini”) in December, as it provided a free Davinci Studio licence.
All as an escape plan from Adobe, as it is clear that Adobe is reducing in investment in pro-tools and shutting down services such as “Cloud” to make Freelancers and SMEs worse off.
I know of broadcast news organisations that have discontinued with Adobe as PPro is buggy and expensive, in comparison to Davinci.
However, for the large corporations, and bigger projects, Avid IMHO still have the edge on media management. Except, they too don’t really care about giving freelancers the opportunity to train on Avid MC for free – to get that advantage, you’ll need to be a student.
At the cost of giving a freelancer 6 or 12 months + a (refresher) course for free, Avid might be missing an opportunity.
Currently there are no dust on my PPro (for now), AE and Davinci keyboards, only Avid and FCPX keyboards might as well go back in the box.
With regard to iPad, still not convinved that the iPad Pro is value for money. And, the standard iPad is lovely for many things, but not professional editing.
