Hi Anders,
When the card is not recognized, please go to the Apple Menu and choose About this Mac. Click on More Info. Then click on PCI Cards in the System Profiler. Is anything listed for the DeckLink card? If so, what does it display?

Can you please run a comparison test with Premiere Pro and let me know if you can output video and audio from Premiere Pro and record the audio to your deck? This will tell us whether the problem is specific to Deck Control or more general. Once I know the answer to this question, I shall answer your other questions about Deck Control.

There is a good chance this will work and you could take advantage of the low price of the new card we are about to release named “Intensity”. This card has HDMI input and output. It works just like our DeckLink cards except it has HDMI. Best of all, the price is only US$249 and it is due out on 15 October. This is an incredibly low price for an uncompressed, digital, capture/playback card. However HDMI makes it easier to build cards at a lower cost so that’s what we’ve built with Intensity and I think it is probably a perfect match for your needs without lots of extras that you won’t use. You could then connect it to your HDMI TV of choice for monitoring.
RAM previews out of After Effects and Combustion can be real time if your PC is fast enough but you do need to render the video in to RAM first. So the first play through will be slower but then subsequent replays of the video should be fast assuming you have enough RAM as the realtime playback plays straight out of RAM. Premiere Pro should play back in real time without any problems assuming you have 2 GB of RAM for HD video.
We haven’t tested your model of motherboard but I think it should work OK and I’ll also ask the engineers what they think.

Dell Workstations are not certified for use with DeckLink cards and are currently unsupported. This is mentioned on our list of Certified DeckLink

Hi,
As Charlie has suggested, reseating your DeckLink card might be the solution. Please shut down your Mac and take measures to ensure you have discharged yourself of static electricity. Now remove the DeckLink card from its slot and then reinsert it firmly. Make sure you apply pressure to the card so that it “thunks” in to its slot. If this does not help, please try another slot in case there is a bent pin in the current slot which might cause such a problem.

Hi,
I’m not sure why that is happening but might have seen something similar before. Please go to the On timecode break pop-up menu and select Warn After Capture. Does this avoid the problem?

Yes, you will be able to playback your DVCPRO HD material through the Intensity card to your LCD or Plasma TV.
You should be able to use Intensity with Soundtrack Pro just as you would a DeckLink card. We have a support note about the DeckLink cards which should also apply to Intensity – Can I use SoundTrack Pro
