Using the regular color corrector (not the 3 way) you can use the ‘limit effect’ pop down menu to select (using the eye dropper) the color you want to effect with your changes. This will allow you to do one at a time and then try using blue green keyer to stack the comps on top of themselves and isolate the new colored elements to create a new whole. good luck

I would try trashing your preferences. That has worked for me in the past when I was on the road and encountered the same problem with a laptop. Good Luck

I finally got it to work. I needed to go into the sequence settings and change the editing timebase to 29.97. You can only do this while the sequence is empty so I couldn’t mess with it before. In terms of the downconvert, I also needed to go to the apple system settings and change the monitor display resolution to 720 – which updated the buffer in the kona control panel and allowed me to send out a 525SDI signal to a digibeta and NTSC monitor…the downconvert that Jeremy referred to. Thanks for all the feedback everybody, one more mystery solved with the help of the Cow.

First of all, I appreciate all the feedback on this problem, this is a great forum for discussion and I am glad it is out there. Here is what I have tried; 1) Easy setup DVCPro HD 60p and made a new sequence, dropped in the footage – redline for render 2) AJA Kona2 720p 59.24 DVCPro HD, made a new sequence, dropped in footage – redline for render 3) AJA Kona2 720p 23.98 DVDCPro HD VAricam, new sequence, dropped in footage – redline for render. I went to AJA and updated the drivers already, and as you can see, I have created a new sequence every time. I do know that much, so it is something else. Could there be a setting in the Kona control card? Man, this is killing me! Even the IT computer master at our shop can’t figure this out. If you are tired of this problem and do not respond, I understand completely. Thanks again, Luke

OK, I installed the updated drivers and got the preset you referred to, nice one, but still a red line. would this a kona setting that I have wrong?

“Choose the AJA Kona 2 DVCPRO HD 720p60 Varicam easy setup”

Jeremy, I don’t have this preset in the easy setup menu…could it be something else?

If you do a more extensive search on the Cow of this topic than I just did, you can find many people out there who have had this same problem including myself. I am willing to bet this is the issue

Make sure you re-sintall quicktime, even if you think you have the most up to date version, that one got me too. good luck.

First thing would be to go to the capture settings tab on the right hand side of the log and capture window. If the Device control is set to “non-controllable device” the VTR controls disappear. That’s gotten me before if I was recently doing a scratch track and turned control off and forgot to turn back on when I went back to tape. good luck
