April 8, 2021 at 7:24 pm in reply to: Upgrade to 18 from 14?

I upgraded from Vegas 16 PRO to 18 PRO Suite, I am not happy with it.

Vegas 16 could upload video direct from the CD player installed on the computer. Vegas 18 can’t. Magix support simply say Vegas 18 doesn’t support it, without explaining why Vegas 16 can.

Now my izotope audio effects I had on my computer for a year disappeared, Vegas sees the VST folder with the effects but doesn’t refresh it. The effects work fine in Sound Forge which came with Vegas 18. I sent a request to Magix for support over a week ago, I only received an e-mail saying they received the request. If the past is any indication this problem will not be resolved by them. I hope someone on this forum can help.

    Thank you Bernie,

    I’ll try it tomorrow.

This is weird, I am going back and forth with Magix for weeks with this problem. Now they tell me this operation is unsupported by Vegas Pro.

To them doesn’t matter if I am able to do this operation without any problem in Vegas Pro 16. It doesn’t matter if I was able to do this operation with Vegas Pro 18. The problem just started with the last upgrade they sent.

The DVDs I am trying to rework were made with Vegas PRO. They are talking about a DVD Camcorder, what is a DVD camcorder?

Maybe I’ll just send the computer back in time or reinstall the program!

    Read their answer below.

    MAGIX Pro Support (prosupport@magix.net)To:you Details

    Hello

    Thank you for your message.

The question was read and understood. This is unsupported operation for any DVD unless it is a DVD from a DVD camcorder, and the DVD is finalized in the DVD camcorder previous to importing. Commercial or burned DVD are unsupported for this type of import due to the reasons listed in the previous response.

Regarding the claim of “VEGAS PRO 16 on my computer I use the same process to import from the DVD in Vegas 16, it works fine!” – we realize users have been able to make this work in the past, but it is still unsupported operation. The function is called: Import DVD Camcorder Disc.

  • Thank you Steve, I found it. I was looking at the red arrows on the right of it.

It’s nice to have a place where one can find real answers to a problem!

I updated my question about the black bars as well. It also was resolved.

Thank you to all who answered.

I think I resolved the problem, it makes a difference which player I use. When I use VLC it has bars on the side, if I use Movie it has no bars. All the player have an option to use full screen play.

    Thank you again

I sent the same questions to Magix without any results just going back and forth.

At first they asked me for a screen shots, I sent them 3 screen shots. Now they are asking for the original file and the rendered file, Aol only allow I think 35 MG does anyone know how I can send a larger file? I couldn’t even post the screen shots here because they are over the allowable sizes.

This may be the problem, I start to notice every show has this problem. However, I also see after I render the show it has black bars on the sides.

I just checked some raw footage I took in front of my green screen, it shows minimal black bars on my flat screen television, however, after I worked it in Sony Vegas and render it the bars are larger. This leads me to believe I am shooting it wrong to start with, second I am rendering it wrong, the Sony video camera has several settings, it’s a job to try them all.

I am a musician, somehow a few years ago I was asked to do a show for public access Local Television. The station gave us a little training and I ended up producing a show I didn’t like the results in their studio and I didn’t like having to depend on people to produce the Show. I purchased my own equipment and started videotaping my live performances, my wife was the camerawoman. Before I knew we had an audience! The idea was to make the audience part of the show, everyone wants to be a star!

I installed a green screen in my basement and having fun with it, but I don’t know the basic of video I am busy making music and never had the time to learn the basic of video, I just set up two cameras and play live, I have mixed results!

Our Show on Cable is a non profit show, I do it because I like to do it.

I use a Sony HDR-AX 2000 set rec format 1080/24 as a close up camera I use a small zoom camcorder. I record the sound with a QSC Touch mixer 16

    Edit with Vegas 18 Suite, I render MPG 2 W 720 H 480 16:9 DISPLAY

The TV channel transmit at 16:9

I am getting black bars and I don’t know why

What am I doing wrong? Can anyone help?

I’ve learned a lot about sound I will be happy to help someone with sound.

    Thank you

Thank you Steve Rhoden and Graham Bernard.

I guess I was expecting miracles. When I zoom in with a camera is to bring the image closer and make it clear. I was thinking using the zoom effect would have the same results.

The bar filler just fills them with colors in the scene, probably it would blend in more if the black bars didn’t have a very defined edge.

Do guys know, what’s the best render templet to use to fill a flat screen television without any bars at all?

    Hello Steve,

Finally I broke down and upgrade to Vegas 18, Suite.

I installed the program, but I am having problems to understand what comes with it and what doesn’t.

I followed the process of installing the add on effects etc. yet I can’t find some of the effects that I thought came with the suite version. It looks like they get mixed together with effects that don’t come with Vegas 18 suite.

In order to make this simple is there way to show only the effects that come with the program I paid for and hide all the others?

I know zynaptiq comes with this program, I see a folder under my vst effects, I see the folder in the little window when I use browser, however my vegas 18 doesn’t scan it? Anyone can help?

    Thank you

    Luigi
