  • Importing from dvd distorted

    Hello,

My Vegas 18 is acting up again. After importing from DVD the image is elongated. It can be seen in the project video window and after on the timeline. I Rendered a small piece, the problem is there. Then import from DVD stopped working completely. I closed the computer and restarted, it started importing again but the distorted image (elongated) problem is still there.

The DVDs work fine on the computer and they load fine in Vegas 16.

    I appreciate any help.

    Thank you

    Hi Luigi,

DVD footage does not have square pixels. To get the aspect ratio correct, you have set up a few things correctly.

    1. Set your project settings up to match your target video aspect, pixel size and frame rate.

    2. When you import media select the cropping icon on the timeline and look at the positioning of the footage within the frame. By right clicking you get a menu which lets you match either source aspect or output aspect.

    3. When you render you again have the choice to change the aspect ratio and pixel size, so check it there as well.

    Cheers,

    Bernie

    Thank you Bernie,

    I’ll try it tomorrow.

This is weird, I am going back and forth with Magix for weeks with this problem. Now they tell me this operation is unsupported by Vegas Pro.

To them doesn’t matter if I am able to do this operation without any problem in Vegas Pro 16. It doesn’t matter if I was able to do this operation with Vegas Pro 18. The problem just started with the last upgrade they sent.

The DVDs I am trying to rework were made with Vegas PRO. They are talking about a DVD Camcorder, what is a DVD camcorder?

Maybe I’ll just send the computer back in time or reinstall the program!

    Read their answer below.

    MAGIX Pro Support (prosupport@magix.net)To:you Details

    Hello

    Thank you for your message.

The question was read and understood. This is unsupported operation for any DVD unless it is a DVD from a DVD camcorder, and the DVD is finalized in the DVD camcorder previous to importing. Commercial or burned DVD are unsupported for this type of import due to the reasons listed in the previous response.

Regarding the claim of “VEGAS PRO 16 on my computer I use the same process to import from the DVD in Vegas 16, it works fine!” – we realize users have been able to make this work in the past, but it is still unsupported operation. The function is called: Import DVD Camcorder Disc.
