When upgrading, it’s a good idea to make a copy of all your currentversion.fcpevent and currentversion.fcpproject somewhere FCPX won’t see in case you need to restore.
If you didn’t do that, hopefully there is a backup. If there is you might be able to downgrade and restore.

I would edit it in a 1080p project. That will give you the option of either scaling the footage down, or cropping it. I think this is a huge advantage for you because going from 3k to 1080p will give you a lot of room to recompose shots through cropping or zooming in without losing quality.

Sometimes I just take the section I want and convert it to a compound clip, which I can then detach the audio from.

All you need is the fcpproject and fcpevent, the rest will recreate automatically upon launch. Its important to move an old version of an event out of the final cut events folder before reopening fcpx to avoid the multiple identifiers message. I find it useful to have a folder called “Final Cut Events (hidden)” and “Final Cut Projects (hidden)” to move events and projects I don’t need temporarily. Its handy to have as few events as possible to speed up launch, and good for isolating problems to a particular event/project.

I had this happen once but can’t remember why. What is your source footage? When you say transcoded, do you mean you’re working with proxy or optimized? Do the files have different frame rates?

August 13, 2013 at 8:47 pm in reply to: Annoying range selection (i/o points) behaviourI don’t know if this is a bug, or a “feature” but it’s terrible. I’d try submitting it as a bug report but I’m really hoping this is fixed in the next release. Whenever someone tries to tell me FCPX isn’t “pro” this is one of the actual issues that can win their argument.

Great find, might be worth submitting a bug report. How much ram do you have?

I would check for project file corruption by trying to copy it to another drive and seeing if the copy completes as quickly as you expect a 400mb file to copy. Are there and backup versions? Are they a similar size?
