My “city” is 100,000 people. It is a very frugal midwestern town. There are 2 major competitors in my area. What I have found is I need to do try to offer a range of services in order to exist. I shot weddings, transfer film, VHS, DV tapes, slideshows and corporate videos. I don’t do events. (My competitors do) So you may have to broaden your scope to make it work.
What I have found in the smaller towns is they are not as technical savvy therefore they may need you more.
I try to remember that “I can’t do everything for everyone.” but it is hard to walk away from anything!

    I really don’t mean to be annoying…
but these files seem almost too small. I was hoping for something around 1.5GB for 8 Minutes and these are coming out at 137MB.
Is there a happy medium somewhere?

I am using the Sorenson 3
It looks like just Sorenson without the 3 gets me the correct file size. Is there any reason why I shouldn’t use that?

This is all foreign to me. Thanks.

What would you recommend I up the bit rate to for MP4?

  • Yes absolutely. I don’t know why I didn’t make the connection. Thank you!

April 5, 2010 at 8:11 pm in reply to: How to tell if a clip is HD

    Under Media it says this:

    Stream: Video 1
    Format: MPEG-2
    704 x 480×32
    Frame Rate: 29.97

    Under General it says this:

    Name: MOV001 (33).MOD
    Folder: C:Desktop\Olson\2010
    Type: MainConcept MPEG-2
    Size: 77.42 MB (79,282,176 bytes)

    Streams
    Video: 00:02:00.120, 29.970 fps interlaced, 704x480x32, MPEG-2
Audio: 00:02:00.128, 48,000 Hz, Stereo, MPEG

Does any of this mean anything to anyone? It might as well be in Greek to me!

    Thanks!

  • Perfect. Thank you.

Those are really awesome. Unfortunately, I only have Pro 8, not 9 so I am unable to use them. However, it did give me some inspiration to get going and motivated.
