and we got our first frost last night! still, the days are glorious, and i have to admit to thouroughly enjoying shooting outdoors at this time of year, even if it is f’ing cold getting up in the morning….

sorry to sort of hijack this thread for a moment, but i posted on dvi regarding lithium L batteries:

mike, what’s the best way, other than in camera to discharge them? my old np1 charger had a function built in, but the v700 i use doesn’t…

and to add further to mike’s obvious comments, you probably lost some ‘quality’ during the transfer to compressed jpeg (.vob) files.

i have v1p and m15 deck – on occasions when either is not recognised i simply turn it off and on again. vegas always picks it up.

with the 15 and hd i usually find it helpful to play a hd tape prior to switching on and off. so far haven’t had any longer lasting problems….

there is NO batch capture for HDV, much to my annoyance. i’m told you can via SDI, but then again, the decks start at $15k.

    ah, progress…..

depends on how quick they want it. back to the old paradigm – two out of three; fast, quality, cost.

i generally don’t charge if there’s no panic, if there is ‘needed it yesterday’, at least $25 an hour.

i have well trained clients who come to me ready prepared and with a deadline that includes ‘free’ render time.

again, i’m no expert, but from memory i think i used 4, and simply luminance keyed the results in vegas. or maybe chroma keyed? either way, the results were usable.

not too familar with .swf’s, but i do remember reading on one of the forums that you have to use 5 or lower. 6 upwards certainly doesn’t load / work in vegas.

bit of a bugger really since i quite like textosterone for creating eye candy, well that is, untill i get my head around protitler…

echo mike entirely. in the old days a cmx edl was universally acceptable in any edit suite – now, with proprietary nle’s, you never know.

and why would you finish in edius, unless you wanted a more convoluted work flow….

    at 60 it wasn’t easy either….

why? i edit the raw m2t’s in vegas – true, most of my work is doco, so little is needed in fx’s, though i do occasionally cc when necessary. 3 > 5 audio tracks, etc.,

    never had any problems e6600/2gb/2 x 360mb.
