I am using this in a genlock situation, so I don’t know if the DV out workaround will work. I would have to route the DV signal through a deck and grab the composite video out of the deck. I actually inadverently plugged my video cable into the HD/SDI out connector thinking that was the composite video out, since it was right next to the genlock jack, but it didn’t output anything in standard def mode, which is what I’m using for now. I will still look into the DV out workaround. Thanks.

Thanks, Todd. Yes, I had found the button to change and turn off the on-screen display. But you answered my question about not being able to split the feeds to the viewfinder and external monitor. Strange that you can’t do that. Oh well.

The timecode of the source clips. Is there a way to drop them on the timeline and see the source clips timecode in the sequence window as the clips are playing?

I forgot about “Easy Setup” because I never change anything. I see there’s a lot of settings in there. Thanks for the reminder.

Yes, it worked. I remembered I have to look under Users/Library. When I reopened the project it prompted me to select a scratch drive, which I did. Looks like we’re off to the races. Thanks so much.

It worked. Thanks. I see Express doesn’t have the red, yellow and blue editing buttons like FCP. It threw me off.

  • Hi, Thomas,

The drives don’t show up in Disk Utility. I connected them to two other Macs and they didn’t show up there, either. I then reconnected them to my computer and the Lacie showed up, but then I got the ‘disk removal’warning again when I double-clicked to open the drive. The Mercury drive didn’t show up at all again. I am sending both of them out today to a Mac repair place in my area. I don’t understand why these drives are so fragile. This sort of thing seems to happen a lot.

April 20, 2010 at 10:31 pm in reply to: Lacie drive corrupted; is there hope

I do have Disk Warrior. I opened it and it wanted to rebuild the disk. What does that do, exactly? I closed it out because I didn’t want it to erase or reformat it. I’ve backed up most of my media but not all of it yet. Funny thing, my projects still open from the damaged Lacie drive except for the one I really need to work on. It starts to open, I get the progress bar, and then the error message “This project is unreadable or may be too new for this version of Final Cut.” I got this message even when I moved the media to my other drive and changed the scratch disk to that drive.
So it seems like the project itself is corrupted.
