Thanks, Mike. Your information has been very helpful. All of the things I asked about can be done with the CG that comes with DPS Velocity, which is what I’ve been using but need to migrate away from. That’s why I’m surprised Boris can’t do these things.
I tried the Import File but it didn’t do anything. A former colleague of mine said he thought that was for importing text files like Word Documents. But it definitely doesn’t work with graphics.
I’ll check out the Boris forum when I have more questions.
I also started on Media 100. I thought the Comet CG that came with my version wasn’t bad. At least it had backgrounds.

    Thanks again.

John, you are the man. I exported a short 30 second clip of my show and the sound came through. I see what you mean about switching to “generic” but I think it will be fine. I’m exporting the whole 1 hr 6 m show now, so I’ll see when I bring the file into the DVD software. I hope you will handle my Boris 3D questions coming up next…

John–The program stream mpg2 will still not export with sound. I chose the SD-DVD setting, but it didn’t help. Is there something else I need to do?

I actually tried that one first at the suggestion of a colleague, but the file size was too big. However, I see now where I can knock the bitrate down to a DVD-friendly size. I’m exporting now and will report back what happens. Thanks for the advice.

Thanks, John. Will the audio be combined with the video into one file? I need them combined.

OK, I see now that I have 4.5 installed on the computer, even thought I have the disks and documentation for Studio 1.01, which includes FCP 5. I inherited this system (G5) from someone else, and I thought v. 5 was installed, but apparently it wasn’t. The previous owner left so much stuff on the hard drive that I have to delete his old projects to free up enough space to install Studio. Once I get that done, I’ll see where I’m at. Also, thanks to David for the tip about the tutorial. I’ll check it out.

I’m wondering if my version of FCP doesn’t support HDV, but v. 6 does? I just saw a screen shot about recapturing HD, and it showed a selection for “HDV 1080i”. I don’t have that selection in Basic Setup or Capture Preset. Do I need to upgrade to v.6 to get HDV support?

    Thanks, Tom. It’s a JVC BR-HD50.
Where are the “Easy Setup” and “Basic Forum”? Are these in FC or in Creative Cow?
