I just installed a 5 Tb OWC Mercury Elite external drive as my media drive for capturing and rendering. It is selected as such in my system settings. However, all of my render files are going to my hard drive. I am currently trying to render 4 hrs of an .mov which I made from a DVD using Cinematize Pro. After it renders about 10 minutes it stops and says it is out of render space, which I now discovered is because it is putting everything on my hard drive and filling it up. How do I direct FCP to place the render files on my Mercury Drive? Thanks.

One fix that will undoubtedly work would be to trash your preferences and then redo the changes to system settings. That may undo some other things as well however, but nothing Earth shattering.

Yes, it worked. I remembered I have to look under Users/Library. When I reopened the project it prompted me to select a scratch drive, which I did. Looks like we’re off to the races. Thanks so much.
