Does the 2 Gig memory issue pertain to all Mac Pro configurations or just XServe Raid/Kona? An associate is planning on purchasing a 2.6 GHz with three internal 500 Gb drives and an Io LA. Most of what he’ll be doing is DV-25, but he needs to the Io to ingest Betacam. Ocassionally he’ll might do some 8-bit uncompressed.Thanks,

Try rendering and see how it looks. You’ll notice the bright green render bar when you place those stills on the timeline.

I totally agree about the fix to compressor. In the interiem I purchased Squeeze which does an excellent job on 2 pass VBR, but the encode times were more than double.

In windows browsers you can simply drag the file into the browser window and it will upload. This does not seem to work in OS X browsers including Safari, Firefox and Internet Explorer. You have to get an FTP client. I use CyberDuck. It’s free. https://cyberduck.ch/

I would love to know what software your transcriber uses. Currently my transcriber uses Start Stop Universal Transcription System, a USB foot pedal and software for PC only. It does not support Quicktime.Thanks,

The transcribers I’ve used use a cassette player or software with a foot pedal that allows them to control the tape or file (fwd, rev, play) while they type. I can’t imagine that a professional transcriber would want to transcribe while trying to control a Quicktime movie or a DVD.

Yes, it’s uncheck “Allow Host Cache Flushing” and uncheck “Use Steady Streaming Mode”
