    If you have AE 6.5, try the Typewiter form the ‘Animate Text In’ section of the Text Animate presets. (Help>Text Preset Gallery>Animate Text In)

    Add an expression to the property of your choice by Alt+clicking on the stopwatch, and then use the pick whip to link this property to the ‘Audio amplitude’ layer.

    If you only use the ‘Convert Audio To Keyframes’ (instead of SoundKeys) assistant, it creates a brand new Audio Amplitude layer with all the keyframes from the audio. Now, you only need a simple expression to link these keyframes to any property of a layer. (See the manual.)

    Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V will do the trick, if ‘AICB and Preserve Paths’ checked in the ‘File Handling & Clipboard’ preferences.
