is it possible to paste any closed path object in Illustrator CS directly into AfterEffects and it becomes a mask?

I’m certain I’ve seen it done before but when I do it, I just get a square or elipse mask object..?

I’m trying to paste a hot chick sillohette path into AE to mask out some footage.

    any ideas or suggestions?

    thanks y’all!

Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V will do the trick, if ‘AICB and Preserve Paths’ checked in the ‘File Handling & Clipboard’ preferences.
