You have three choices:
1. Upgrade to 6.5
2. Buy Image Lounge from Red Giant Software. They have the ‘Text Typewriter’.
3. Make it on your own by doing the following:

a) Type in your text.
b) Click on the Animate button in the timeline, and add an Opacity Animator. Set the Opacity itself to zero.
c) Twirl down the Range Selector, and add a keyframe to Start.
d) Go to the end of the animation and set the Start to 100%. Now you see the smooth typing.
e) Twirl down the Advanced properties of the Range Selector, and set the Smoothness to zero.

This is just one way…
