Hi,

Navigate on the timeline, so that you see the picture in preview window of which you want a still.
Then set preview to best/full. Don’t worry if don’t see the whole picture, just a part of it.
Either press the disc icon to save the snapshot to a file, or pres the copy icon left to the disc to copy the picture to clipboard.

Then import it to your pic.editor, either opening the file, or start a new and paste from clipboard.
If your pic.editor is photoshop, the it has a “deinterlace” filter, you may want to apply this.

You put your video in DVDA, hope youre’ familiar with this.
Then set “end action” to itself, so your video will be looping on every player.

Prepare and burn to a rewritable, to see that it works as you planned.

That’s really strange.
You capture using Vegas via firewire, and it contains no audio at all?
Is there a soundtrack in the captured file?

I myself don’t have Vista or V7, but based on what I read on this forum, I think you need to upgrade to V8, or your laptop downgrade to windows Xp.

Hi if you’re on a tight budget the canopus ADVC55 does the convert for you. Assuming you don’t need analog out as well…

If your camera has a firewire passthrough (not all does) then you can use it.

Pyro A/V link works OK with vegas, I have one.
However I’d recommend against Pyro, because once you have some trouble, your’re stuck with your Pyro, beeing completely ignored by their techsupport. (At least I am :()

So consider buying canopus, even if it’s cost a bit more.

Eugene, you could also setup on an other computer (let’s say on a laptop) the same softwares, and try to render there. If it fails, then it’s about software problem (incompatibility, other error etc.)

I’m not sure at all that I’ll be in help for you, just a couple of ideas:

Switch off the automatic reboot on crash. (My computer/properties/special/startup, recovery options: click setup button and uncheck the automatic reboot – the actual captions may differ, I translated them back to english from hungarian ;)).

That will leave the blue screen on crash, and you can read which dll, or device driver caused the crash. That information might help.

From https://www.memtest86.com/download.html download memetest bootable iso, unzip, burn iso to a cd, boot in and leave it running the whole night.
If there’s a problem with your RAM/Motherboard you’ll see it as memory errors. (Take out the CD, so that memtest cannot reboot, as memtest may crash too, so you can see in the morning wether it worked all night OK, or crashed. Of course if memtest crashes, then there’s a serious problem with your RAM/MoBo. )

If the crash occurs always after a while of working/rendering,
some sort of overheating may also be a cause.
Check all of your systems fans, and the motherboard for dust.
Clean if necessary.

Hi,

Use a camcorder that’s capable of recording progressive, then you’ll have nothing to do with interlacing.

Once you shoot with a camera an interlaced video, the camcorder does not store the picture of a frame and store it interlaced, instead it makes expositions at every half frames,
so the half frames contain images cpatured at different times.
Assuming it’s about PAL (standard def.), you can think of it like taking 50 fps at a lower resolution (720*288). In this case deinterlacing means to somhow interpolate the 2 frames, and drop one of them.

I think (and I’m quite sure at this point), it’s better not to deinterlace. Of course you can do it, but if you do so, you will LOOSE some MOTION INFORMATION.
That’s why looking at an interlaced and at a deinterlaced video on a CRT TV, the interlaced will have much smoother movements. (Especially panning and horizontal moving.)
This is my EXPERIENCE, and this is why I recommend against deinterlacing, unless there’s a really good reason to do so.

I don’t say interlacing is a good idea today.
The best were 50 or 60 fps full frame progressive with full HD resolution 🙂
