The one reason that I shoot 720p is because of the progressive mode. I think many people might think the way I do that 1080i is an interlaced format and you are shooting frames to interlaced. I would be worried about interlacing compression artifacts even though it is a single frame. Also the nice thing about shooting 720 is the over and under cranking of the footage. I would think I might end up with a product that won’t look as nice as the 720p format.

It’s funny you should say that because I thought also what would I shoot it in and it would be 720p as well.
Do you think there would be a big difference between 720p and 1080i on the big screen?

If you don;t already have a 3D tracker I would recommend that you look into ‘SynthEyes’. I use it with R10 and it works great.
I have a clip on line where I put a square stone on the street and walked up to it, you can see it here.

Just to add a little to this thread. I followed the links and found this film,
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0990376/photogallery
It is being released next month and was shot with the HVX and the M2 35mm lens adapter. Not my kind of film but I will go to see what it would look like transfered to 35mm film.

I agree to s point with you. The next camera I will buy in the next 3 years will be the Red. But the one thing about the Red is that it has no Auto Focus. I know with that camera you don’t need one because it is designed like a film camera, but for everyday shooting and low budget commercial I am happy with the HVX-200. If the Red is successful, other companies will have to come up with a similar product I would think.

I like this monitor. The Marshal had a big heavy housing which was cool but it was big and heavy. the specs are almost the same except this is an 8″ monitor not 7″.
There are a couple of quarks with it that I had to get use to. when you turn the power off the button light bellow are still lit. Also they only had Sony L series batteries that would fit, and they fit real tight.
For outdoor you’ll need soomething from Hoodman to shade it but the same is true for the Marshall. It works great with the HVX-200 since it comes with Componant HD inputs.
If both the Marshall and this were the same price I would have bought the Marshall. But this was so much cheaper you could buy 2 of these for what you would pay for a Marshall.

I bought one of these at NAB for $750. They are $795 of the website. It’s identical to the marshall version except it is in a plastic housing. The version I bought also only had Sony L series battery but that was OK because I had an old Sony camera with a couple of batteries.
With the money you save you can buy this for the feild and the pany 17″ for the studio if $5k is your amount.

It hurst to see a handel broken off like that. At NAB I purchased a part crom Zacuto that is a suppot for this camera. They said they have seen many broken handels and that is the reason they made these.

At the show it cost me like $50 but I can see it may be able to help with camera drops like you had by reenforcing the handel.
