Can anyone recommend a monitor that will take advantage of the HD capabilities of the HVX? I would like one for editing as well as shooting video. I need to stay under $5k for each monitor.

    Thanks!

Try to get CRT one…JVC still makes good one for the money.

The sony bvm-d14h5u is just borderline in your price range. You can put it in a road case for location but it is only ac voltage.

I bought one of these at NAB for $750. They are $795 of the website. It’s identical to the marshall version except it is in a plastic housing. The version I bought also only had Sony L series battery but that was OK because I had an old Sony camera with a couple of batteries.

With the money you save you can buy this for the feild and the pany 17″ for the studio if $5k is your amount.

    Lars,

How do you like the image on this monitor? How is it for off access viewing? It looks interesting and I see it for as little as $725 on the web. I guess they can sell it at this price point by cutting out HD-SDI input. Could be a great little monitor for use with a camera that has analog outputs, but I’d need a digital/analog converter for use on many shoots where only HD-SDI is available.

    Regards,
    David

I like this monitor. The Marshal had a big heavy housing which was cool but it was big and heavy. the specs are almost the same except this is an 8″ monitor not 7″.

There are a couple of quarks with it that I had to get use to. when you turn the power off the button light bellow are still lit. Also they only had Sony L series batteries that would fit, and they fit real tight.

For outdoor you’ll need soomething from Hoodman to shade it but the same is true for the Marshall. It works great with the HVX-200 since it comes with Componant HD inputs.

If both the Marshall and this were the same price I would have bought the Marshall. But this was so much cheaper you could buy 2 of these for what you would pay for a Marshall.
