Hi Mathieu,

What is the status of the LED lights on the HDLink?

Does the HDLink Utility respond when you connect a host computer via USB to the unit?

Hi Nick,

First thing to check is that you’ve configured the Final Cut Pro project using the Intensity easy setups. Check that View > External Video is set to “All Frames”. What version of Intensity drivers are you running? You can check the version by opening the Intensity preferences located in OS X’s System Preferences. If you’re not running the latest version, update it and see it that helps.

Hi Michael,

To send video out via our cards with a Quicktime product, the application must support Quicktime Component VOUTs. Ironically, Quicktime player does not support this.

If you need a quick playout application, you can use the Blackmagic Deck Control application which is installed along with our drivers. You can find this application in the OS X Applications folder.

Unfortunately, we don’t have a solution. We do have the Video Recorder that will do component to H264 in SD but I guess that’s not really what you’re after.

Hi Tracey,

If you use the “Blackmagic HDTV” easy setups in Final Cut Pro, it will configure Final Cut Pro to capture via the input of our cards rather than the firewire ports on the Mac. These setups will use the RS422 connection to get timecode.

If you need timecode in your capture from the XH-G1, you will need to get it via the firewire port. Since Final Cut Pro does not allow you to decouple HDV firewire deck control from HDV video capture, you’ll need to set your camera to down convert on the firewire output, then in Log and Capture, choose DV NTSC or PAL as the deck control option.

Hi Gary,

2 ways actually.

1) Capture HDV via firewire but preview the HDV playback out via the HD Extreme card. Video capture and Deck Control will be all via firewire HDV.

2) Capture via the component HD output of the deck into the DeckLink Extreme. This way, you have the option of capturing to Uncompressed, ProRes, DVCPRO HD etc (if on a Mac). For deck control/timecode, you’ll need to set the VTR to downconvert on the iLink output and use DV Deck Control in Final Cut Pro’s capture settings.

Intensity will play a 23.98 timeline (HD) but it will apply pulldown to output it at 1080i60.
