The DeckLink SP does not support S-video input. The tech note specifically refers to the DeckLink HD Extreme, Multibridge Pro and Multibridge Eclipse.

Hi Dave,

We seen some displays stretch or even crop out a full res HD video picture sent via HDMI so your Toshiba display might be doing something similar. Have you tried any other displays?

This issue has been addressed in the Quicktime 7.5 update and is not believed to be DeckLink specific. We issued a bug report with Apple as soon as we managed to replicate this.

Hi,

Multibridge Pro has a “video desktop” output option in the Finder which may have a different resolution from the one you’re actively working in. This explains why there is an interruption when you switch between apps in OS X. YOu can change this resolution from the Displays preferences in OS X. You may have to click on the “Gather Windows” button to get the “Television” resolution of the Multibridge Pro to appear in your computer monitor, especially if the Multibridge Pro is outputting HD and you’ve only got an SD monitor connected.

Hi Ari,

As in capturing with Final Cut Pro? Check your Clip Settings tab in the Log and Capture window and make sure they are enabled.

I don’t think it’s possible to actually alter what is already captured, but dragging the clips to the timeline should not exhibit the problem you’d described. Can you make sure you’re dragging the clips into the video track? If you you drag and drop the clips onto the audio tracks, I think all the audio tracks get dropped in as well.

Can you describe more about the problem? Are they dropped frames or system freezes? If they are system freezes, how are you able to recover from it? Does it involved restarting your computer?

The DeckLink SP is an analog only card and will not capture SDI at all.

Hi Keith,

If you’re DeckLink Extreme card is the PCI version, it will not work in the new Mac Pros. The new Mac Pros use PCI-Express slots so you’ll need a PCI-e card. The HD Extreme will be a nice upgrade as it does both SD and HD.
