    Hi,

We are digitalizing our VHS tapes for future publication,
    we use Decklink SP + FCP6 + Mac (2.8Ghz Quadcorex2) with
OSX 10.5.2, and internal 1 TB Seagate HDDs (about 75mb/s).

We often encounter system freeze issue during capture
(uncompressed 8 bit), so we upgraded our HDD to server
level (ES2), runs above 100mb/s, yet we still have such
    problem, sometimes twice a day.

Can anyone tell us how to avoid this problem? Or is it
    something between FCP6 and Leopard?

BTW, we’ll appreciate if anyone can tell us what effects
in FCP or what other application shall we use to remove
noises derive from analog video. We can’t find it in
    common FCP training books.

    Thank you very much.

    Hi Yuangen,

Can you describe more about the problem? Are they dropped frames or system freezes? If they are system freezes, how are you able to recover from it? Does it involved restarting your computer?

    regards

Thanks, the problem involved is system freeze,
and most of time we have to restart the computer
and there’s no way to recover the captured file.
That’s why it became a problem, after watching the
tape for more than one hour, then something goes
wrong and we need to restart the computer and
redo the capture from the beginning.
