So I’ve been out of the capture card market for a couple of years, happily using my Decklink Extreme in my G5. I just got a new Mac Pro and realize that my DL Extreme does not fit in the slot. I see that there are some new cards available that look different than my old one. I guess I need to buy a new Decklink card? Is my old DL Extreme useless to me with the Mac Pro? Should I just give it to the guy that bought my G5?

Might be a good time to upgrade to an HD card anyways.

Let me know if my assumptions are wrong.

    Thanks,
    Keith

    Hi Keith,

If you’re DeckLink Extreme card is the PCI version, it will not work in the new Mac Pros. The new Mac Pros use PCI-Express slots so you’ll need a PCI-e card. The HD Extreme will be a nice upgrade as it does both SD and HD.
