  • Hi,

[Kris Veenis] “3) I tried going into the Blackmagic preferences and changing those. Right now I have the output settings set to SDI & HDMI & Composite and input settings set to SDI Video and SDI audio I also have the input processing set to 1080i HD to SD letterbox 16:9 and HD to HD and SD letterbox.”

This should be set to “Off”.

  • Hi Aaron,

    1. It’s HDMI 1.4a frame packing. Yes, that’s correct. However, if you don’t have a developer version of the PS3, the HDMI output will be HDCP encrypted so you won’t be able to capture.

    2. No.

    3. Not yet. It currently recognises the signal but captures to 480i.

  • Uncompressed 8-bit video (1080i0 requires about 120 MB/s of throughput. If you’re planning on using firewire 800 on the drive you’re referring to, it’s not going to be enough. If you use the eSATA connection on the QUAD model, then it should be ok.

    Hi,

Of course, you can still record from the component output of your PS3.

[John Pucci] “Is it possible with this device to monitor the output from the HD SDI of the camera via HDMI to an external field monitor while recording in SD at the same time?

    Hi John,

No, Mini Converter UpDownCross has SD/HD-SDI outputs. You can daisy chain 2 converters together if you need to get the required outputs. For example, Mini Converter SDI to HDMI to get your HDMI monitoring, and then send the loop out to the UpDownCross to get your SD-SDI output for recording.

    Hi,

The UpDownCross is all SDI outputs. If you down convert, you get SD-SDI output. If you need HD-SDI to analog composite or component output, use the Mini Converter SDI to Analog. Then you can set whether to output the down converted video as composite or component.
