Hi Alan,

We accept 480p over HDMI. The input is accepted but on capture, we convert it to 480i. What you’re after is capturing 480p and maintaining the 480p file, this we don’t do yet.

If you’ve installed Final Cut Studio 3 over Final Cut Studio 2, the first thing I would try is to reinstall the Intensity drivers, then see if that helps.

This is expected behaviour. The DeckLink Studio does not support 1080p50 or 1080p59.94.

Hi Michael,

If you are able to sustain a normal playback in Final Cut Pro with the timeline you’re going to output to tape, then I don’t think it’s your drive not being able to keep up. I’ve seen instances where Final Cut Pro displays a dropped frame warning when it encounters some other problem.

Do you have the output of the deck connected back to the DeckLink card? Can you try removing it and see what happens when you go into the edit to tape mode?

Also, in the Edit to Tape window, check your audio track insert menu in the bottom right corner to see if the different settings make a difference.

Thanks for the feedback. Maybe the card is not suitable for your needs then as 8-bit RGB 4:4:4 is typically a computer type format and not commonly used in the video world. 10-bit RGB 4:4:4 is used, but this is a very high bandwidth intensive format usually over dual link HD-SDI and only typically found on the high end VTRs like the HDCAM-SR decks. This is only limited to up to 1080i59.94 right now.

Can we add 8-bit RGB 4:4:4 capture? Possibly. But this is not high on our list of priority right now as it’s not a commonly requested capture format.

When this happens, have you tried selecting a non Blackmagic audio output device, such as system sound, then going back to Blackmagic audio? I’m wondering if that will bring the audio back in sync?

When you start LiveKey, it sets the card up into capture mode so everything you’ve described sounds normal.
