[Sean Lander] “Indeed if you do turn off the Video Desktop setting in the control panel it will fix the crashing in iPhoto 6.”
Ah ok. This has something to do with OS X 10.4.3’s OpenGL rendering and it should be resolved if you update to 10.4.4. Please let us know if this is not the case.

Hi,
[mhh] “I was kindly pointed to the Motion forum, where they have had issues, and are saying that 10.4 has resolved them.
On my quad it has not, especially with Soundtrack,”Are you having issues with Motion or Soundtrack?
Motion used to crash dues to some issues in OS X 10.4.3 and that was resolved with 10.4.4. Alternatively, if you’re on OS X 10.4.3, you can turn off the video desktop option in Blackmagic DeckLink Preferences. See this technote:

If you’re having issues with Soundtrack, it relevant to Motion? Pleae let know us know more in detail. Thanks.

Hi Sean,
Plase send us a copy of the crash log when iPhoto crashes. We’ll look into it.
As for iSight, I’m afaid there’s nothing we can do about it. There’s no way of specifying which device iChat looks for and it seems to like the DeckLink cards.

Hi,
Please check which slot your card is inserted into. If it is slot 2 (or 3) of your G5, then ensure that you don’t have another slower card in slot 3 (or 3) as these 2 slots share a common bus which slows down to the match the speed of the slower card.

Hi,
Anything Blackmagic will be marked as “Conflict” when you run the AJA Conflict Checker. There’s nothing to worry about.

[Editing-Jos] “Are these FULL products you can use for capturing/sending out.
Or do you need to buy a PCI-E card also? Or is it included?”Yes, the Multibridge Extreme and Multibeidge Studio are full products. They have a PCI express port on the back which connects to a PCI Express card that is in your Mac. This PCI Express card IS included. To your Mac, it’s just like having a Decklink card inserted.

[ghobii] “But they apparently don’t fix the issue with 8bit footage in After Effects 7. It still crashes on import.”
Yes, that issue is not resolved yet. But we’re working on it.

Hi Juan,
Do you recall when it reverted back to the old issue? Was it after a restart? Did you power it down at the end of the day and then it won’t start the next morning?

Yes, you can monitor off the component outputs of the card when capturing or playing back. The breakout cable is included.
However, do make sure that you’re Power Mac G5 is a PCI-X machine. PCI only G5s are not supported.
