    Hi Ulli,

I tried converting it but it didn’t work, I’m afraid it’s built on an older version than R11.

I don’t know if you’ve tried this or not, but if you stop the rendering at a certain frame and then after launching again you find that the rendering time has returned to normal, then there must be another problem besides what I mentioned. If you’re using GI, so as some users have advised, you could set the settings as follows :

    Render Settings/Global Illumination/Cache Files – Prepass only:off – Skip Prepass:off – Auto Load:on – Auto Save:on – Full Animation Mode:on

If this isn’t the case for you, so you could copy the geometry into a new file and use “Current state to object” so that you won’t have any effectors. such as Cloner, Sweep … etc, then try again. I hope one of the two things will work for you.

    Hi Josh,

The rendering speed of each frame is related to the complexity of the elements on the screen during that frame. This means that even if you are rendering a huge animation file, but in the first frames it only contains for example one element with a simple composition and simple materials, it will render very quickly, and then the rendering time will start to increase as more elements appear in the frame. If this is the case for you, then what happened is normal. I hope this is useful to you.

“Using a Cloner object with the object set to a Particle Group actually allows the emitted objects to show up in the viewport and render” This is what I wanted to confirm because after some searching there is currently no tutorial explaining how it works, although it is obvious that users would ask about this, so I wanted to make sure that it works for you too using the cloner so that we can have a baseline around this to benefit others. Thank you very much for your response! As for rendering on Arnold, I do not have much experience with it, but I hope you find what you are looking for in the update.

Just to let everyone benefit from your experience, I think the first problem was that objects weren’t showing up instead of particles in the viewport even before rendering, right? Then you got around that using cloner and now you’re wondering about rendering all of that on Arnold, please correct me.

    Hi Eric,

You are supposed to be able to do this using the cloner as you can see in this tutorial at 2:17 but it didn’t explain how to do it so I doubt there is still a problem with that especially since the tool is relatively new and what made me suspicious is that even in the Presentation video for the tool on Maxon’s website they didn’t talking about that.

If so, could you please send me one of the files that is causing the viewport freezing so I can test it in my version to see if the problem is with your project settings or if there is a bug in your version. Therefore, you should contact Maxon’s support team to resolve the issue.

    Hi Josh,

If freezing happens after rendering, it is likely that the problem is with Redshift. Make sure that it is updated. Some users found problems with GPU-Render, such as Redshift and Octane with the 2025 version, unlike CPU-Render, such as Corona, which works well on this version, so many still prefer to work on 2024. Or you should install the latest updates of 2025 because they fix some of the bugs every time.

Hope this is helpful for you.

  • You are welcome, Fred! I think the problem is that the center of the Spline Wrap is not identical to the Helix center. By bringing the center closer, you could avoid the characters going outside the track, as in the screen recording below. I hope this will be useful for you.
