Usually when doing something a little demanding like dynamics, but sometimes just orbiting around with camera. C4D will freeze up for about 10 seconds, then will seem to be working again except that the viewports are frozen. All functionality seems to still be there but obviously cannot see what Im doing.

    Anyone know what causes this?

    Hi Josh,

If freezing happens after rendering, it is likely that the problem is with Redshift. Make sure that it is updated. Some users found problems with GPU-Render, such as Redshift and Octane with the 2025 version, unlike CPU-Render, such as Corona, which works well on this version, so many still prefer to work on 2024. Or you should install the latest updates of 2025 because they fix some of the bugs every time.

Hope this is helpful for you.

Nope, not doing any rendering nor do I have redshift open. Simply C4D locking up and then becoming functional again but the viewports are frozen. No way around it but a restart. It happens quite often. Anyone else having this problem?

If so, could you please send me one of the files that is causing the viewport freezing so I can test it in my version to see if the problem is with your project settings or if there is a bug in your version. Therefore, you should contact Maxon’s support team to resolve the issue.

I think you should update your GPU drivers (clean install) or disable or remove conflicting apps (e.g., Insta360Stitcher).
