Enter values for the width and height so the desired height is 9/16 of the desired width (to determine this value, multiply the width by 0.5625),
Example frame sizes using this ratio:
If you are exporting from the native DV-NTSC frame size of 720 x 480, set the output frame size to be 720 x 405.
A smaller 16:9 frame size would be 400 x 225
By using the formula above, you can come up with your own values for smaller web widescreen aspect ratios.

If audio mixdown won’t work, your drives are too slow or are being hindered somehow by your setup. If they are daisy chained to a slow video camcorder (many are FireWire 200), then all connected drives will slow as well causing dropped frames.

Usually, it’s a drive problem when you can’t playback. But since your same sequence had formerly played back without problems, perhaps you have a corrupt sequence.
Try this: Copy/Paste all the clips into a new sequence. See how that works.

Bob has the right idea. However, my technique would involve unchecking both the chroma and sat tolerance checkboxes in the Limit Effects area of that tool. I then shape my matte based on Luma Only by having only the Luma checkbox checked. Try it.
