The XML import is getting pretty good in 8.0 and 8.1, and might save some conforming time to use XML instead of EDL.

Re: the DCI 2K specs, the projectors are required to have a native resolution of 2048×1080, so the 1:1.85 resolution is 1998×1080, and the 1:2.39 resolution is 2048×858. It’s less clear to me if the decoder will accept arbitrary horizontal or vertical pixel counts, like 2048×1024…

I am probably oversimplifying, but the input LUT is applied before any of the grading nodes, and the output LUT is applied after the grading nodes. The display LUT is applied only to the monitor (in other words, it doesn’t actually change the image information at all, and your renders won’t have that LUT baked in).
You can also apply a LUT in the middle of your grading nodes, by right clicking a node and applying a LUT. I prefer to do this for certain LUTs because then I can work on the image before and after the LUT is applied.

I have been having this issue on rare occasions with Red One footage… it seems to cut out at the breaks where the Red footage splits into different files to accommodate file size limits…
The old solution was to add “DPDecoder.Count=0” into the debug line of the peferences, but this also cripples your Red decoding speed. Definitely send your capture logs to davincihelp@blackmagic-design.com to see if they have a new solution. I’m told it is solved in 8.1.

Same here, going from DPX to ProRes 422HQ, but pretty rarely. The only correlation I notice is that it happens when the render is for a deadline and I’m already stressed out.

Yup, the video monitoring selection of full-range vs. legal only applies to the video outputs from the card – if you want that transform to appear in your renders, use an output LUT that scales to 64-940 (you can create one in just a minute with the soft clip lot generation tool).
Once you add the LUT you will probably want to switch your monitoring to “full range” to avoid doubling up the effect, but you should get an identical image to your displays. I usually use external scopes, but I imagine that you would see the scaling on the internal scopes.
That’s what I do in this situation, at least, going to Avid or places that request legal values.

Can I add?
1. The ability to change the colors of the waveform guides (the center dot is white, like the cloud that is my picture – why?) Also, being able to add and hide guidelines (a skin-tone bar or even just more reference shapes) seems like it should be a big advantage of software vectorscope.
2. Same thing on waveform, being able to toggle on/off the Millivolt scale and toggle on ten (or variable) lines for IRE/percentages. It’s difficult to mentally convert 100% into seven horizontal lines…
3. I second infinite scaling…and rearranging/scaling scopes.
4. The video preview window would become very useful if it had a 10-bit/8-bit/12-bit measurement tool, like Nuke has or FSI monitors have… it would be awesome to just roll over a region and see a quick read of the RGB values…
I’m hoping that in order to better support some of their other cinema offerings (like Resolve and the Decklink 4K) that they add more cinema features, like 2K formats, XYZ, CIE gamut views or fun things like that…

Possibly there’s another way… that’s just how I used to do it. The tech support from HP is a nightmare. You probably already determined this, but basically nobody in the company is aware that the product even exists… I actually went through 6 different displays because nobody seemed to know or care about the quality issues, they were just willing to pay for shipping for a replacement… SIX TIMES. I still have the last one, it’s about to go onto an assistant station…
For the FSI and the projector I use 2.2 for Rec. 709 material, sometimes DCI at 2.6.
