Is there a similar function for putting the qualification highlight only on the GUI? Is that only on the Resolve panel? The Wave panel has a handy on/off but I would love to keep it off the client’s display…

Thanks Rohit, working as advertised.
I didn’t check the playback/render speeds before adding the debug code, but maybe I’ll test it once I finish this project…
Cheers

It’s different on different models, but on the 2010 and maybe 2009, there are two SATA connections at the very front of the logic board. When it ships from the factory, the top one is used for the optical drive, the bottom one can be disconnected and used for the eSATA (unless you are using a second optical drive or something else, then it would be required for that). Other World Computing sells the Newer Technology eSATA extender, which goes from the SATA connection to female eSATA.
I think on the 2008 those connections are in addition to the optical drive connections, but you actually have to remove the fan module to get to them.

What’s the best way to get those clips into the media pool / timeline? Or have you been going outside of Resolve?

Oh I’m sure this would void a warranty/applecare. I bought a spare door (part #922-8533, Access Door/Cover Panel Mac Pro 2.8GHz/3GHz/3.2GHz (Early 2008)) so that I wouldn’t have to drill in my original door or the actual chasis. It’s about $40, from Mac Recyclers – the 2008 and 2010s have the same door, I assume the 2009s would too.
If you unscrew the raised part from the door, it’s easy to cut the center crossbeam out and leave a gap between the hard drives and the door, where the cables run.
Then the cables can run out from the drive…
…and down past the hard drives. When you put on the cover, the gap is wide enough for the cables to run down, HDMI to the card and Esata to the SATA connector in front of the fan (2010 Mac Pros).
Then you haven’t voided any warranties (unless you use your original door) and you can run any kind of cables, regardless of the size of the connector. I bought but didn’t end up needing a “flat” HDMI cable, I’m sure an SDI would run up there as well – the RED Rocket has SDI on the back, no?
Not sure if you can make this work if you have a 5th drive in the optical bay.

I had the same problem when the postgreSQL installation did not work on my first install.
But for my case, the total reinstall did not fix the problem without first manually deleting the postgreSQL-related files around the system. For whatever reason, Resolve uninstall did not get everything.
So if anybody has this and it isn’t solved with a reinstall, contact Davinci help for the manual postgreSQL removal instructions…

When I first installed the Kona LHi (3G) in my Mac Pro I was very surprised by the fan noise. At the time I was sitting about 6 feet away from the tower in a room with a good amount of ambient city noise.
Although it might not be as loud as some of the fans in the unit, it definitely is more constant. I know if I were attempting a critical listening environment, I would not be happy with my machine in the room.

October 8, 2010 at 7:02 pm in reply to: Got my new Panasonic 42 pro plasma up and tweaked in..Robbie, how is the VT-25 working out for you? Have you had it calibrated yet? I’ve been doing the same research as you probably, and have come to the same conclusion (plus might even get some milage out of screening stereo material)… but since much of the literature available is translated into consumer vocabulary (deep color, cinema-motion, etc) I’d like to hear your take on using it in a critical environment…

If you’re still contemplating in about 10 days, I’m assembling a system that sounds a lot like that – 12-core 2.93GHz, 24 GB RAM, Decklink Extreme 3D+, GTX 285, GT 120, and with a RAID rather than RED rocket… and one of the first things I’ll test is 4K RED for 2K output. However, I’m not really contemplating putting a RED rocket in permanently, if it doesn’t play 24fps, I’ll just figure out what get me closest…
