    Hi guys,
Have just built a new system (2009 Mac Pro) for Resolve.
Upon installation today we are unable to ‘create a new data’ base and thus can’t access the program.
    Error is:

Failed to open database connections: could not connect to server: Connection refused.
Is the server running on “127.0.01” and accepting TCP/IP connections on port 5432?
    QPSQL: Unable to connect

Manual says that a new data base is created “automatically” upon install however not the case for us.
    All thoughts most appreciated.

    Cheers,

    J

    Solved with total re-install.

I had the same problem when the postgreSQL installation did not work on my first install.

But for my case, the total reinstall did not fix the problem without first manually deleting the postgreSQL-related files around the system. For whatever reason, Resolve uninstall did not get everything.

So if anybody has this and it isn’t solved with a reinstall, contact Davinci help for the manual postgreSQL removal instructions…

I had a similar problem too, my Mac would crash at the “allocating memory” process on startup, even after multiple un-installs and re-installs..

I finally figured out that I had to manually delete the preference files, as the uninstaller doesn’t seem to do it on it’s own.

    Good thing that I’m a bit of a geek…

Hi, we have see on just a few occasions that the PostGreSQL database does not complete the install and in this case a re-install generally fixes the issue. If not, please contact davincihelp@blackmagic-design.com so they guys can help you.
The uninstall process currently does not delete the database, what ever its state, as you can imagine the outcome if you accidentally removed/deleted a years worth of your projects while doing an un/ re-install.

    Thank you Peter.
What data does this ‘data base’ contain? Can it be backed-up?
If so…….where is it on our system?

    Regards,

    J

can you provide info on where all these files are – its my understanding from reading this thread that one must delete these first then uninstall 7.0.3 THEN install 7.1?
    any info would be great
    thank you
